John Michael Lucas – June 26, 2015

John Michael Lucas, 60, of St. Marys passed away Friday, June 26, 2015, at his residence.

Born June 29, 1954, in Jacksonville, FL, he was the son of the late Gregory B. and Marguerite Bradley Lucas.  He was also preceded in death by a brother, Steve Lucas.

John had resided in Camden County for the past 3 years and was a Mental Health Counselor, retiring with 20 years of service.  He gave so much of his personal time helping others with addictions.  He received his Master’s degree at Springfield College in Tampa, FL, and was of the Catholic faith. John enjoyed all kinds of music, golf, and was an avid Gators football and Cubs baseball fan.  He loved his family and traditions.

A Celebration of John’s Life will be held on Monday, June 29, 2015, at 1:00 pm, at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys, with Travis Ballard officiating.  A private inurnment will be held at a later date at Oak Grove Cemetery.

He is survived by the love of his life of eight years, his wife Laura Lovell Lucas of St. Marys,; three sons, Greg Lucas and Jimmy Manasco both of Jacksonville, FL, and Craig Hiott of Mountain Top, PA; daughter, Kristi Hiott Turner (Larry) of Kingsland; two sisters, Betty Crago, and Debbie Ballard (Bobby) all of Jacksonville, FL; two brothers, Tom Lucas (Evonne) of CO, and Brad Lucas (Virginia) of TX; eight grandchildren, Gabby Lucas, Kimmy Lucas, Alyssa Turner, Ryan Turner, Alyssa Manasco, Julie Manasco, Emily Hiott and Alex Hiott; many nieces and nephews.

Barbara Lee – June 21, 2015

Barbara Lee, 63, of Kingsland passed away Sunday, June 21, 2015, from the results of a vehicle accident.
Barbara was born July 12, 1951 in Akron, Ohio.  She had resided in Camden County for the past 5 years and was a retired school teacher, having taught school in Macon, GA and Cartersville, GA.  She was an artist, and enjoyed cycling, going to the beach, and loved her beloved dog, Paco.
Survivors include two sons, Nathan Ippolito and Samuel A. Ippolito, both of Atlanta; father, Dwight Chitty of Akron, OH; fiance’, Jack Hanna of Kingsland; sister, Carol Ogrizek of Akron OH; two nephews, Ian Kubilus and Aaron Kubilus.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Toy Chitty.
The family will be holding private memorial services at a later date.

Needham Arnold Barlow, Jr. – June 20, 2015

Needham Arnold Barlow, Jr., 88, of Kingsland passed away Saturday, June 20, 2015 at Southeast Georgia Health System, Camden Campus.

Born April 12, 1927 in DuPont, Georgia, he was the son of the late Needham A, Barlow, Sr. and the late Brunell Bashlor Barlow.  He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Colleen Barlow, Cleo Barlow and Helen Barlow Nall, and brother, Winston Barlow.

Mr. Barlow was a life long resident of Camden County, and was retired from Gilman Paper Company with 43 years of service.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kingsland, and also attended the Kingsland United Methodist Church.

Mr. Barlow was a member of the Camden Masonic Lodge #476 F&AM for 64 years, and served as Past Worshipful Master in 1962.  He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving his country honorably during WWII.  He was an avid follower and supporter of the Camden County Wildcat Football team for over 35 years.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at 10: 00 am, at the Kingsland United Methodist Church Sanctuary, with Rev. Devin Schultz officiating.  Interment will follow at Lawnwood Cemetery in Kingsland, with full Masonic Rites.  The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5 pm to 7 pm, at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Survivors include his wife, Annette Barlow of Kingsland; three children, James Michael Barlow (Margie) and Melissa Lanier (Steve), all of Kingsland, and Bradley Barlow (Karen) of Douglas; two brothers, James E. Barlow (Mary Edwina) of Marietta, and W. Edward Barlow (Dorinda) of Kingsland; grandchildren, Sara Theriault, Christopher Theriault, Kala Gombaski, Andrew Gombaski, Jr., Royce Michael Barlow, Zachary Barlow, Kyle Barlow, Harrison Barlow, and several nieces and nephews.

Mary Anne Horne – June 13, 2015

Mary Anne Horne, 68, of Kingsland passed away Saturday, June 13, 2015 at her residence.

She is survived by her husband, Mallory Horne and three children, Rick Horne, Alan Horne and Carla Martin.

The family will be holding memorial  services at a later date.

William John Rhea- June 12, 2015

William J. Rhea, 73, of Woodbine, passed away Friday, June 12, 2015 at Southeast Georgia Health System, Camden Campus.

Services will be held in Beavercreek, Ohio.

Wayne Sterling Jahada – June 12, 2015

Wayne S. Jahada, 56, of St. Marys passed away peacefully at his residence Friday morning, June 12, 2015.
Born December 12, 1958, in Elizabeth, NJ, he was the son of the late George and Mildred Clay Jahada.  Wayne had resided in Camden County for the past ten years and was a successful self made business man. He had a heart of gold and touched the lives of everyone he came in contact with.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, June 19, 2015, at 11:00 am at Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Marys with Pastor Juan Fraustro officiating.  The family will receive friends on Thursday evening at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys from 6 pm to 8 pm.
Pallbearers: Jim Brow, Jason Coffel, Sean Lavallee, Jason Intravia, Jason Hogan, Jesus Bracero.
Survivors include his two daughters, Jamie L. Jahada, and Jessie Jahada Lavallee (Sean) of St. Marys; brother, George Jahada of East Stroudsburg, PA; sister, Sheila Bogie of Clark, NJ; three Grandchildren, Tess Jahada, Anthony Knght, and Aniston Call; niece, Deanna McMahon; four nephews, Allen Jahada, Jim Bogie, Jake Jahada, and Vinny Jahada; life long friend, Jim Brow.

Ann Perry Sweatt – June 12, 2015

Ann P. Sweatt, 69, of Kingsland was born November 20, 1945, and died Friday morning, June 12, 2015, at Southeast Georgia Health System Camden Campus after an extended illness.

Ann was born in High Point, NC to William N. Perry and the late Lucille Nugent Perry. She grew up in Atlanta, GA. As a young child Ann was diagnosed with Charcot-Marie Tooth Disease, a form of muscular dystrophy. She was chosen to be the poster child for the Scottish Rite Hospital in Atlanta, where she endured several surgeries. Ann graduated from Gordon High School, graduated from Georgia Southern College with a degree in education and soon after she accepted a job to teach elementary school in Kingsland. In 1969, she married Robert C. Sweatt, and began her life as a wife, mother and homemaker.   Ann continued to be active in the community as a member of the Mayor’s Disability Awareness Council, being named Citizen of the Year in 1994 and 1998. She was awarded a Melvin Jones Fellow by the Woodbine Lions Club.   She was a member of the Woodbine United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Robert C. Sweatt, Sr. of Kingsland; son and daughter-in-law, Robert C. Sweatt, Jr. and Ardith McCollough Sweatt of Kingsland; father, William N. Perry of Atlanta; grandchildren Carleton Sweatt, III and Breann Sweatt. Mrs. Sweatt was preceded in death by her mother, Lucille Nugent Perry of Atlanta.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at 10:00 am at the Woodbine United Methodist Church followed at the Griffin Bluff Cemetery in Kingsland. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 5-7pm at the Allison Memorial Funeral Home in St. Marys.

Pallbearers:  Robbie Nettles, Jimbo Wildes, Tony Sheppard, Drexel Thrift, Steve Wright, John Higginbotham.

Mildred Thompson Bailey – June 7, 2015

Mildred Thompson Bailey, 85, of St. Marys, GA, affectionately known as Mickey, was called home by her Heavenly Father Sunday evening June 7, 2015. Mickey was currently a resident at LLC of Hilliard, FL. where she spread her energy and jubilant spirit to staff and residents alike up and down the halls.

Mickey was one of three daughters born to Martha and Ralph Thompson of Decatur, GA. She is survived by her husband of 67 years Charles Ray Bailey; two daughters, Ruth Ann Dyals (Roger) of St. Marys; Donna Davis (Ronnie) of Loganville, GA;   two sons, Kenneth (Faye) of St. Marys and Brett of Fernandina Beach, FL; two sisters, Martha Dinos of Atlanta, GA and Anne Bailey of Blue Ridge, GA; eight grandchildren, Christa Edwards of Fayetteville, GA; Dale Dyals of Brunswick, GA; April Freeman of Loganville, GA; Beth Davis of Decatur, GA; Jessica Bailey of Juliette, GA; Mackenzie Bailey of Lilburn, GA , Matthew Bailey of Fort Meade, Maryland, and Kim Pope of Canton, GA; twelve great grandchildren, Ashley, Ashton, Austin, Cade, Cameron, Davis, Hunter, Jackson, Kaitlyn, Lindsey, Ryan, Zack and one great, great grandchild, Kieryn.

Mickey was a homemaker, a loving wife and mother who strived to maintain a joyful and well- balanced home life for her family. She enjoyed camping and spent many weekends with her family in the Southeastern state parks. Following retirement, Mickey and her husband Chuck moved to a home on the Withlacoochee River, in Istachatta, FL, where they enjoyed a leisure life of fishing and socializing with their friends, and Monday flea market in Webster, Florida. They moved to St. Marys in 2001.

When asked how she would most like to be remembered, Mickey replied, “I was a Christian. I loved my family”. She was a strong prayer warrior and an Elder in the First Presbyterian Church of St. Marys.

Visitation will be held Wednesday evening, from 6 to 8 pm, June 10, at Allison Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be conducted Thursday, June 11, at 11 am, at Oak Grove Cemetery with Rev. Charles Elliot officiating.
