Robert John Helms – July 29, 2015

Robert John Helms, 48, of St. Marys, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at Southeast Georgia Health System, Camden Campus.

Funeral services and a complete list of survivors will be announced later.

Horace Eugene Marr – July 29, 2015

Eugene Marr, 51, of Woodbine, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at Southeast Georgia Health System, Brunswick.

Eugene was born December 15, 1963 in Folkston, and had lived in Camden County most all of his life.  He was a 1982 graduate of Camden County High School, and had been employed with Ray Marr & Sons Automotive since 1978.  He loved deep sea fishing, and his passion in life was his job and his family.  He attended the Lighthouse Church of God in St. Marys.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 2, 2015 at 2 pm at the Lighthouse Church of God with Pastor Bobby Woods officiating.  Interment will follow at Marr Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Saturday, at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys  from 5 pm to  7 pm.

Honorary Pallbearers: Camden County Sheriff’s Department.

Survivors include his wife, Theresa Ann Marr of Woodbine; parents, Ray and Hazel Marr of Woodbine; children, Casey Lee Young (Brandi) of Folkston, Amanda Marr and Chase Eugene Marr both of Woodbine; brother, Andy Marr (Deanna) of Woodbine; two grandchildren, Madelyn Olivia Young and Hayden LaRae Cheek, and several nieces and nephews.

Mason Alexander Collins – July 28, 2015

Mason A. Collins, 3 month old, of Silverdale, WA., passed away suddenly on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at Southeast Georgia Health System, Camden Campus.

Survivors include his parents, Shane and Angela Collins, brother, Gavin Collins, and sister, Liv Collins, all of Silverdale, WA; grandparents, Doner and Vickie Caldwell of Silverdale, WA, and Kevin and Annamarie Collins of Kingsland; great grandparents, Gray and Ricka Collins of Virginia Beach, VA, and Gladys Silliman of Mt. Washington, KY.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at 1 pm at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys, with Nathan Fletcher presiding.  Private graveside services will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Charlotte F. Sirmon – July 24, 2015

Charlotte F. Sirmon, 46, of Nahunta, passed away Friday, July 24, 2015 at her home following a courageous battle with Cancer.

Born February 28, 1969 in Jacksonville, FL, she was the daughter of the late David L. and Arlene Miller Vanzant.  She was also preceded in death by her son, James R. Sirmon, IV, and sister, Panzy Perry.

Charlotte had been a resident of Camden County all her life until moving to Nahunta in 2010.  She was a graduate of Camden County High School and a graduate of Georgia Military College. Charlotte was a Sales Manager at Liberty Life Insurance Company in Brunswick for 14 years, and owner of East Coast Exotic Birds for 8 years.  She was a member of Wayne County Quilt Guild, enjoyed sewing and quilting with her daughter and sister, and loved traveling.  She attended Southside Baptist Church in Nahunta.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, July 29th at 11 am at Brazell Cemetery in Kingsland, with Pastor Bruce Morgan officiating.  The family will receive friends at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys on Tuesday evening from 6 pm to 8 pm.

Survivors include her husband, James R. Sirmon, III, three children, Davannah Jade Sirmon, Tyler Austin Sirmon, and Timothy James Sirmon all of Nahunta; sister, Sue Roberts (John) of Kingsland, and several nieces and nephews.

Joyce Elaine Whitlock – July 14, 2015

Joyce E. Whitlock, 75, of St. Marys, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at her residence.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, July 18, 2015 at 3:30 pm at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys, with Jon Williams officiating.
Survivors include her husband, Donald J. Whitlock of St. Marys; son and daughter in law, Chris and Terri Whitlock of St. Marys; sister, Carol Williams of FL; grandchildren, Kimberly Humphrey, Jeremy Humphrey, Matthew Humphrey, Derrick Humphrey, and Sarah Skrypiec; great grandchildren, Bladen Humphrey, and Carter Skrypiec.

Wiley Sears – July 11, 2015

Wiley Sears, 71, of St. Marys, passed away Saturday, July 11, 2015 at his residence.
Wiley was born March 29, 1944 in Jesup, GA, and was the son of the late George B. and Lucy Mason Sears.  He had resided in Camden County for the past 48 years and was retired from Gilman Paper Company with 36 years of service.
If you were familiar with the downtown golf carters in St. Marys, you knew Wiley.  He had the fastest golf cart with duel exhausts and always had his puppy “Bubba” with him.  Wiley was also known as the “Senior on Patrol”, always keeping an eye on the Gilman Property, the park, and  everyone else’s property downtown St. Marys.  He was an outdoorsman, and loved taking photos of birds.  A friend who will never be forgotten, and loved by everyone, will truly be missed.  He was a member of the International Paper Workers local #446, and was of the Methodist faith.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 17th at 10:00 am at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys, with Pastor Bobby Woods officiating.  Interment will follow at the Akin United Methodist Churchyard Cemetery at Mt. Pleasant at 2:30 pm.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6 pm to 8 pm.
Pallbearers:  Terry Sears, David Dyal, Chris Hodge, Ralph Melton, and Al Chapman.
Survivors include his son, Chris Sears of St. Marys;  sisters, Helen Long (Ed) of Mt. Pleasant, Jean Underwood of Brunswick, and Nell Sanders (Ken) of Jesup; granddaughter, Kori Ashton Sears McGraw.  He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Annette Pickren Sears, his second wife, Sara Lou Corn Sears, brother, Jimmy M. Sears, and sister, Marian Pickren.

Katina Offutt – July 10, 2015

Katina Offutt, 42, of St. Marys, Georgia, died Friday, July 10, 2015. 

        Tina, the daughter of Mr. Jerry Grimes and Mrs. Shelvy Leighty, was born on April 15, 1973, in Kokomo, Indiana.  She worked at St. Marys Church for the past twelve years as church secretary.  Tina was more than a good secretary-she was a friend, confidant, life of the party co-worker, adopted grandmother (Kiki), do anything that needed to be done kind of lady.  Her smile was contagious and her compassion for people was real.  More than that, her love for Christ, for her family and friends was genuine.  You always knew where you stood with Tina and that was fine because you just couldn’t help but love her.  She will be missed by her family, church family and friends more than words can say.

        Tina was preceded in death by her step-father, Robert Lee Leighty.  She is survived by her husband, Greg Offutt; daughter, Morgan Caleen Offutt; son, Gregory Robert Thomas Offutt; father, Mr. Jerry Grimes and mother, Mrs. Shelvy Leighty; sisters, Kim Duisson, Tamberly Cate, Debbie Smith, Carol Ann Willis, Nikkole Grimes and Vanessa Grimes; brothers, Richard Corbit, Toby Leighty, Bobby Leighty and Curt Grimes.

Services for Katina Offutt will be held in Indiana and the family will return to St. Marys to have a memorial service at St. Marys Church later in the week.  Any contributions to the family or flowers for the service can be sent to St. Marys Church, 101 Pine Street, St. Marys, GA  31558.

Jack Anthony Prough, Jr. – July 10, 2015

Jack Anthony Prough, Jr., 50, of Harrietts Bluff, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, July 10, 2015.
Jack was born October 17, 1964 in Akron, Ohio.  He had been a resident of Camden County for the past 4 years, and was the president of Pro-Webs, Inc. for the past 13 years. 
Jack enjoyed riding his motorcycle, his family and friends and was an avid bowler.
Visitation will be held  Saturday, July 18, 2015 at 10:00 am at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys, following with a memorial to share your memories at 12:30 pm.  Casual attire is encouraged.
Survivors include his wife, Melanie Prough of Harrietts Bluff; father, Jack Prough, Sr., of Winder; mother, Edna S. Murray of Akron, OH; seven children, Virginia Shockley of Akron, OH, Jack Prough, III, of Mogadore, OH, Troy Prough of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, Jessica Wilson of Akron, OH, Casey Hamling of St. Marys, Steven Prough of Akron, OH, and Danielle Hamlin of Harrietts Bluff; sister, Traci Crano (Michael) of Navarre, OH; two brothers, Mark Prough and Eric Prough both of Savannah; seven grandchildren, Paige, Taylor, Lauren, Daniel, Brooke, Douglas, and Skyler.

Richard Currier – July 9, 2015

Captain Richard Currier, USN RET, 83, of St. Marys passed away Thursday, July 9 2015 at Southeast Georgia Health System Camden Campus.
