Donald Mumford – December 3, 2015

Don Mumford, 61, of Brunswick, passed away on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, FL.

Born May 4, 1954 in Lyons, GA, he was the son of the late John and Alma Martin Mumford.  He was also preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Mumford.

Don worked in law enforcement almost all his life, being an Officer was as much a part of him as being a red head. His career began early in the 70′s working for the City of Brunswick, he then moved on to work in South Carolina. In the 1990′s he worked for the Camden County Sheriff’s Office, the new millennium found him working at the Kingsland Police Department and then moved on to McIntosh County Sheriff’s Office where he was a K-9 handler working Drug Interdiction and Speed Enforcement. Don loved law enforcement, working with his fellow brothers in uniform and helping his community. Always quick with a smile and ready to lend a hand. Don was started working with concrete at an early age with his father and brothers he was also a professional concrete contractor and carpenter. On his days off you could usually find him crawling around in concrete, pouring a drive or a foundation. Don used his carpentry skills to assist his wife with her photography by making one of a kind frames from reclaimed wood. Don was tough and strong on the outside, he was a survivor who didn’t know the words give up. Don and Debbie were married for 15 years, he was her white knight in shining armor and she was his driving force. When they were married in April of 2000 they were told they were a vitalized couple, perfect for each other.
