Alfred John Loguidice- April 30, 2016

Alfred J. Loguidice, 72, of St. Marys, passed away at his residence Saturday, April 30, 2016.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys, with Pastor Greg Gardell officiating, and with military honors.

Survivors include his wife, Ann Loguidice of St. Marys; daughter, Nicole Simons and son in law, MTCS James G. Simons, Jr.; brother, Salvatore Loguidice (Marion) of New Windsor, NY; sister, Mary Simat of Hoyt Lakes, MN; granddaughter, Ashley Moore (Philip) and great granddaughter Aria Moore.

Mildred L. McLendon – April 28, 2016

Mildred L. McLendon, 81, of St. Marys passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Specialty Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida.
Born September 22, 1934 in Eastman, GA, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Lila L. Lamb Murphy.  Her husband, George Arlington McLendon also preceded her in death.
Mrs. McLendon had been a resident of St. Marys since 1950.  She had been employed with Gilman Bag Plant, and also at St. Marys Florist, as a floral designer for 25 years.  Amongst her many hobbies, she enjoyed crocheting, refinishing antique furniture, walking, riding her bike, and reading.  So well known to everyone in Camden County, she will be sadly missed by her children, sisters, grandchildren, extended family and all who she has touched and came in contact with during the years.  She was a member of St. Marys Church.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 2, 2016 at 11:00 am at St. Marys Church with Pastor Randall Dockery officiating.  Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 1st, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the funeral home.
Survivors include two daughters, Connie Herndon ( Wayne) of Brunswick and Judy Bocchicchio (Carl) of Peachtree City; son, Arlie McLendon of St. Marys; two sisters, Marlene Hulett (Earl) of St. Marys and Linda Kimmons (James) of Eastman; four gramdchildren, Gerry Herndon, Jodie Goodyear, Matt Bocchicchio, and Chris Bocchicchio.

Mary Jane Keene – April 25, 2016

Mary Jane O’Rourke Keene, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend died on Monday, April 25. She was seventy nine.

My candle burns at both ends;  It will not last the night;

But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends- It gives a lovely light! 1

And give a lovely light she did. A lover of the arts, nature, an avid reader, always a curious person with a deep respect for education; Mrs. Keene was a creative Master Gardener and accomplished at creating beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces in which to enjoy life with her family and friends. Jane and her husband, Dr. Willis R. Keene, Sr., who died in 2013, moved to Camden County, GA in the 1980’s to enjoy life in a rural setting; sharing a passion for stewardship of the land known as Halifax on the Satilla River, where they made their home.

Jane was born in Newton, Massachusetts in 1936, and grew up in New England, inspiring a lifelong passion for coastal living and the beach. She attended Johns Hopkins School of Nursing in the 1950s. There she worked as a research technician with Ivan Bennett, M.D., Professor and Chairperson of the Department of Medicine, Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, where she met her husband, Willis. In the 1970’s, after raising her family, Mrs. Keene attended University of North Florida earning both a B.A. in Psychology in 1978, and a Master of Health Sciences with highest distinction in 1980. Mrs. Keene practiced as a Clinical Psychologist in Jacksonville, FL for a number of years before retiring.

Mrs. Keene is survived by five children, Lynn Keene of Woodbine, GA; Stephen Keene (Rene’) of Cary, NC; Charles Keene (Chrissy) of Folkston, GA; Willis Keene, Jr. (Sonya) of Woodbine, GA; and Brooks Keene (Shadi) of Savannah, GA. She dearly loved her grandchildren; Dylan, Jane, Darya, and Rory.

A private family ceremony will be held to reflect on a life well-lived. Gestures of remembrance may be made to Hospice of the Golden Isles, 1692 Glynco Parkway, Brunswick, GA 31525.

Bonita “Bonnie” London – April 21, 2016

Lifelong educator, 71 year old, Bonnie London was born and raised in Wilmington, NC. She is the daughter of the late M. Eugene and Marguerite Jones Bullard.  Bonnie passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, April 21st.

Bonnie, a “die hard” Bulldog fan and history buff graduated from Sullins College and the University of Georgia, and received an M. Ed. from Georgia State University. She taught in the Atlanta Public School System as well as serving as Elementary School Principal and Instructor in the Governor’s Honors Program. Bonnie founded her own company to provide staff development to school systems throughout Georgia, and as a consultant, she served with the North Georgia RESA and Georgia State Dept. of Education.  Later she served as an education instructor at Coastal Georgia College and Armstrong State University.  Bonnie also authored three Georgia History textbooks used across the state of Georgia.

Her hobbies included bridge, golf, reading, and fishing or just relaxing and watching the Crooked River as tides came and went throughout the day. Bonnie, widely known for her compassion and dedication, was one of the founding members of The Honey Creek Episcopal Church under the leadership of Reverend Linda McCloud. During the past six years, she was an active member of King of Peace Episcopal Church in Kingsland GA.

A memorial service will be held Friday, April 29th at 11:00am at King of Peace Episcopal Church in Kingsland GA with The Rev. Al Crumpton officiating. A reception will follow the service. Your thoughts and prayers are requested for her beloved family and many friends. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her sister, Sandra Bullard Nichols (Robert) of Jacksonville, Fl., Sister-in-law Nancy Kelly Bullard, of Wilmington, N. C., nieces/nephews Sandy, Catherine, Robbie, Gene, and Michael, stepson Mark Mathis, and many beloved great nieces and nephews, family, and friends.

The family is grateful for the support of Allison Memorial Chapel, and the King of Peace Church family. In lieu of flowers, Bonnie has requested donations to the King of Peace Building Fund.

Lorraine Hage – April 20, 2016

Lorraine Hage, 79, of Kingsland, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Community Hospice, Warner Center in Fernandina Beach, FL.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Lawnwood Cemetery in Kingsland, with Chaplain Jackie Hayes officiating,.

Survivors include her son, Clayton Hage of Kingsland and sister, Margaret Flesch.

Mary Elizabeth Bobchak – April 13, 2016

Mary Elizabeth Bobchak, 83, of St. Marys, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at Southeast Georgia Health System, Camden Campus.

Born September 14, 1932, in Chesapeake, VA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph H. and Mary Glenn Hogge.

Mrs. Bobchak had been a resident of Camden County since 1975.  She enjoyed reading books and crafts.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 19th, at 11:00 am at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys with Pastor Jim Higby officiating.  Graveside services will follow at Lawnwood Cemetery in Kingsland.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, April 18th from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Survivors include her children, Beverly Cantor of Colorado Springs, CO, Mary Ellen Carter of St. Marys, and Thomas Andrew Bobchak, Jr. (Bettina) of St. Marys; five grandchildren, Amy Cantor, Ryan Cantor, Andy Bobchak, Hannah Schmidt, and Jonathan Bobchak; three great grandchildren, Kellan, Mackenzie and Allyson.
