Shirley Ann Neal – June 27, 2016

Shirley Ann Neal, 81, of Kingsland passed away Monday, June 27, 2016 at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick.
Born May 1, 1935 in Zanesville, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late J.A. and Grace Randall.
Mrs. Neal was a  retired Registered Nurse, and a graduate of Christ Hospital Nursing School where she received her Bachelor’s degree.  She had been a resident of Camden County since 2005 and was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church.  She was an avid lover of Pets, and enjoyed gardening.  Most important to her was the love of her family, a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother.
A gathering of friends and family will celebrate Mrs. Neal’s life on Thursday evening, June 30, 2016 at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys from 5 pm to 7 pm.
Survivors include her husband, Richard Neal of Kingsland; daughter, Kelly Schwaller (Joe) of St. Mary; sister, Eleanor Novaria of Zanesville, OH; two grandchildren, A.J. Schwaller and Zachary Schwaller; many nieces and nephews.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Camden County Humane Society.

Rosalind D. Thomas – June 26, 2016

Rosalind Davis Thomas, 69, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2016 in Jacksonville, FL.
Born July 12, 1946, in Douglas, GA, and was the daughter of the late Alton Ross Davis, and the late Winnie Lou Davis.  Rosalind moved with her parents as a small child to St. Marys.  She was a mischievous and adventurous child with many friends, and was a 1964 graduate of Camden County High School.  Following graduation she moved to Jacksonville, FL. to seek her fortune in the corporate world.  She worked for SCM Organic Chemicals from 1980 until her retirement in 1998.  Rosalind and her husband Bob enjoyed their summer home every six months in the north Georgia mountains in Hiawassee.  Rosalind was loved by most that knew her and will be missed by many.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 2, 2016 at 10:00 am at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys.  Burial to follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6 to 8 pm.
Survivors include her loving husband of 47 years, Robert G. Thomas of Jacksonville; son, Brett J. Thomas (Cindy); daughter, Jennifer A. Thomas; brother, Alton Ross Davis, Jr. (Sandy); nephew, Alton Ross Davis, III; niece, Holly Davis Jones (Joseph); cousin, Tammy Davis.

Raymond W. Barnes – June 12, 2016

Raymond W. Barnes, 81, of Kingsland, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2016 at Hospice of the Golden Isles in Brunswick.
Born June 5, 1935 in New London, Ohio, he was the son of the late Albert and Mabel Barnes.  He was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty W. Barnes, daughter, Tonya Johnson, and daughter in law, Rae Barnes.
Mr. Barnes had been a resident of Camden County since 1982, and was the owner and operator of Kingsland Plumbing and Electric Co.  Most recently he had worked with Kingsland Ace Hardware until his retirement.  He was a member of the Kingsland First Baptist Church, and a veteran of the United States Army serving his country honorably during the Vietnam Era.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 16, 2016 at the Kingsland First Baptist Church Chapel at 10:00 am, with Pastor Brian Parker officiating.  Burial to follow at Lawnwood Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 pm to 8 pm at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys.
Pallbearers: Ryan Norton, Alex Norton, Mitchell Johnson, Mark Johnson, Matt Johnson, Harry Legates.  Honorary: Kingsland First Baptist Church Grace Sunday School Class.
Survivors include his loving life partner, Flo Legates of Kingsland; three sons, Todd Barnes of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Tracy Norton (Katherine) of Orlando, FL, Tim Norton (Renee) of Kingsland; son in law, Mark Johnson of Hilliard, FL; seven grandchildren, Kathryn Barnes, Alex Norton, Mitchell Johnson, Matt Johnson, Ryan Norton, Ashley Norton and Kendal Norton; several nieces and nephews.
The family requests memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Raymond Barnes be made to Hospice of the Golden Isles, 1692 Glynco Parkway, Brunswick, 31525.

Harold Lee Jones – June 8, 2016

Harold Lee Jones, 53, of Savannah lost his short battle with cancer on June 8, 2016, surrounded by his family at Coliseum Medical Center in Macon, GA.

He was a resident of Knoxville Georgia and a long time member of Bethel Methodist Church.

He was a certified Electrician for 25 plus years, an artist, lead guitarist and singer in several bands, amateur boxer, all around athlete, and master story teller just to name a few.  He was a loving father and husband, and was loved by all that knew him or met him.

He is preceded in death by his parents Jullian Grady Jones & Mary Emily Jones, both of Statesboro, Ga. His sisters Paula Bianca Jones & Wathene Del Jones.

Survivors include his wife Sharon Jones of Savannah, his son Andrew Jones of Savannah, brother Delan Jones, St Marys, sisters Carol Sheline, Oak Island, NC & Betty Gretten, Hamton, Va.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 1:00 pm at the Amazing Grace Baptist Church, 5790 Ogeechee Rd., Hwy. 17, Savannah, GA.

Thomas J. Hussey – June 7, 2016

Thomas J. Hussey, 52, of Kingsland, passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at Southeast Georgia Health System, Camden Campus.
Born March 4, 1964 in Long Island, NY, he had been a resident of Camden County for the past 15 years.  He was retired from the United States Navy, serving his country honorably with 20 years of service.  Following his retirement he was employed with Vista Billboards/Satilla Temps for 8 years.  He enjoyed biking, darts and shooting pool.  He attended Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 13, 2016 at 5:00 pm at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys with Fr. Brian O’Shaughnessy officiating.  A visitation followed until 7:00 pm.  Interment will be held at a later at Jacksonville National Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Edna Hussey of Kingsland; mother, Mary G. Hussey of Port Jefferson Station, NY; sons, Francisco Martinez (Lupe) of Fresno, CA, and Leon Martinez (Trish) of FL; three brothers, Kevin Hussey (Lisa) of Nesconset, NY, James Hussey (Christie) of O’Fallon, MO, and John Hussey (Lisa) of Saverna Park, MD; four sisters, Kathleen Sermon (Andrew) of Randolph, NJ, Jeannarie Styrnoe of Tucson, AZ, Rebecca Hussey of Nesconset, NY, and Maura Elias (Christopher) of Darien, CT; 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father, John P. Hussey.
