Betty Jean Harris – June 4, 2016

Betty Jean Harris, 85, of Woodbine, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2016 at her residence.
Born November 18, 1930 in Alma, GA, she was the daughter of the late Willie L. and Liza Lovett Taylor.  She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Bernice Thigpen, her late husband Martin T. Harris and son, Don Thigpen.
Mrs. Harris had been a resident of Camden County since 1952.  She retired from Gilman Paper Company with 24 years of service and was a member of the Woodbine First Baptist Church.  She enjoyed sewing and cooking.
Funeral services will be held held Monday, June 6, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Woodbine First Baptist Church with Dr. Larry Boyette officiating.  The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to services.  Interment will follow the services at Colesburg Cemetery.
Survivors include her children, Ronnie Lee Thigpen (Ruth) of Kingsland, Gary Thigpen (Charlotte), Carol Fortenberry, and Wendell Thigpen all of Woodbine; 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Allison Memorial Chapel and Funeral Home of St. Marys is in charge of arrangements.

John C. Savilonis – June 3, 2016

John C. Savilonis, 74, of Kingsland, passed away Friday, June 3, 2016 at Sears Manor Nursing Home in Brunswick.
Born June 11, 1941 in Boston, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late John R. and Valerie Tekut Savilonis.  He was also preceded in death by a brother, James Savilonis.
Mr. Savilonis had been a resident of Camden County for the past 12 years and was retired from Bose Corporation in Massachusetts with 33 years of service.  He was a life member of the VFW Post #8385 in Kingsland and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving his country honorably during  Vietnam.  He enjoyed painting, reading, traveling and shopping.  He was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather.
A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at 12 noon, at the VFW Post #8385 in Kingsland with Military Honors.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret L. Savilonis of Kingsland; daughter and son in law, Loreen  and Scott McDonald of Kingsland; brother and sister in law, Joel and Dorothy Savilonis of PA; two grandchildren, Justin S. McDonald and Jakleen M. McDonald; three great grandchildren, Jakob McDonald, Jeremy McDonald, and Chase McDonald.
