Edward C. Sosebee – October 31, 2017

Edward C. Sosebee, 70, of St. Marys, passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at UF Health Shands in Jacksonville, Florida.

He was born December 10, 1946 in Austin, Texas, and was the son of the late Edward and Lois Sosebee.

Mr. Sosebee had been a resident of Camden County for the past two years. He had been employed with the City of Austin, Texas, Survey Crew Chief, retiring with 25 years of service.  He was a member of Hidden Treasures Assembly of God.

Services will be held Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 11:00 am at Allison Memorial Chapel with Pastor Raymond Cowan and Pastor Rick Arreola officiating.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Sosebee of St. Marys; sons, Philip Sosebee (Tiffani) of St. Marys and Dwight Sosebee of Kyle, TX; two grandchildren, Tyler Sosebee and Kaelyn Sosebee.

Allison Memorial Chapel and Funeral Home of St. Marys is in charge of arrangements.

 

 

John W. Hodges, Sr. – October 31, 2017

John William Hodges Sr, left for his final deployment in the early hours of October 31st, 2017. John was born on July 17th, 1944 to William Nial and Laverne Hodges in Parsons Kansas.

John graduated from high school in 1962. After graduation he worked in the oil fields of Kansas and Oklahoma. He then joined the United States Navy in February of 1967. In April of 1967, John met Judy Wagner of Shakopee Minnesota through a friend during the Vietnam War. They wrote back and forth for a year and got married in April of 1968 and have been together for 5 months shy of 50 years. Together, they went on a great adventure, wherever the Navy needed him; San Diego Ca.; Memphis, TN; Corpus Christi, TX; Quonset PT, RI; Brunswick, Me; Pensacola, FL; Yokosuka, Japan; Atsugi, Japan; Korea. It was an adventurous journey of 21 years of Military Life.

During his 9 years in Japan, he became quite an accomplished skeet shooter, competing in several International Competitions. After he retired from the Navy, he received his Associates of Science Degree. John and Judy stayed in Pensacola for several years before moving to Kansas, where he joined the Masons. He was also a fond member of the Edna Bears till they moved to Minnesota.   After John and Judy retired, they moved to Kingsland, Georgia to be close to their family, where Mr. Hodges resided until his passing.

He was preceded in death by his father Nial and mother Laverne, brother Donald, brother-in-law Marvin, and sister Kathryn. John is survived by his wife Judy Hodges, his son John Hodges Jr (Cindy) Kingsland, Ga; and daughters Julie Hodges Best, Michelle Hodges and Cherrie Poncin. He is also survived by his older his sister, Irene Winter from Kansas. He has 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren and another on the way and several nieces and nephews. John lived a full and exciting life and will be missed. The family would like to give a Big Thank You to Heartland Hospice for their help in making his last days comfortable and helping the family get through this hard part of living.

A memorial service will be held on November 10th at 11 AM at Allison Memorial Chapel and Funeral Home, 10141 Colerain Rd, St Mary’s Georgia.
