Shirley Ann Turner – February 26, 2018

Shirley Ann Turner, 74, of St. Marys passed away Monday, February 26, 2018 at Southeast Georgia Health System Camden.
Born May 26, 1943 in Artesia, FL, which is now where Cape Canaveral Space Center is located, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Aline Terryn.  She was also preceded in death by her brother, Charles Terryn and sister, Myrtice Frame.
Mrs. Turner had been a resident of Camden County since 1978, and was an accounting technician at Kings Bay Naval Base, Civil Service, retiring with 23 years of service.  She enjoyed reading, her computer, and traveling.  She was a member of First Baptist Church in St. Marys.
Survivors include her husband, Tom Turner of St. Marys; son, Tim Turner of Orlando, FL; daughter, Terra A. Schooler (Christopher) of Katy, TX; sister, Hazel Haddock of Cocoa, FL; two grandchildren, Megan Schooler and Abby Schooler.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church in St. Marys with Pastor Steve Kegley officiating.  The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to service time.  A private burial will be held at a later date at Jacksonville National Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be the Senior Men’s Class of First Baptist Church.

Alton “Rusty” Hudson – February 25, 2018

Alton “Rusty” Hudson, 55, of Kingsland passed away Sunday, February 25, 2018 at Southeast Georgia Health System in St. Marys.
Born October 16, 1962 in Columbia, MS, he was the son of the late Alton L. Dixon and Merry Bowles Terry.  He was also preceded in death by his sister, Darla Blessitt.
Rusty was a carpenter and roofer by trade, and attended Woodbine First Baptist Church.  He took pride in his beautiful rose garden and loved making people laugh and smile.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, February 28, 2018 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am, and graveside services to follow at Lawnwood Cemetery with Pastor Greg Gardell officiating.
Pallbearers: Will Phillips, Skylar Turnage, Timothy Shedd, Michael Alford, Kevin Breeden, and Caleb Hudson.
Survivors include his wife, Kimberly Hudson; 9 children, Melissa Rasp (Jason), Oliver Hudson (Cathy), Pamela Hudson (Michael), Alton Hudson (Ashley), Tina Hedgepeth (James), Chris Turnage (Suzie), Skylar Turnage (Margaret), Victoria Dixon (John), and Kymberli Dixon; brother, Clifton Dixon (Lois); 3 sisters, Annette Harrell (Arthur), Vickie McNeese (Michael), and Judy Sumrall; numerous nieces and nephews.

Shirley Ann Godley – February 21, 2018

Shirley Ann Godley, 84, of Kingsland passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at the Senior Care Center in St. Marys.
Born January 26, 1934 in Coalport, PA, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Lydia Zinner.  Mrs. Godley was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph J. Godley, Jr., grandson, Donald Kevin Yeomans, and great grandson, Anthony Vincent Abbatecola.
Mrs. Godley was a member of Browntown Baptist Church, and very involved in her church and Christian ministry.   She loved her family and friends, and never met a stranger.  She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother.
Survivors include her daughters, Cheryl Yeomans (Donald), Lisa Parsons (Bill) all of Kingsland, and Peter Harvey, Jr. (June) of White Springs, FL; 11 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and a multitude of friends and loved ones.
The family will be receiving friends on Saturday, February 24th from 10:00 am to 11:30 am. at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys.  A graveside service will follow at 12:30 pm at Burnt Fort Cemetery with Pastor Edward Dixon officiating.  Grandsons and sons in law will serve as pallbearers.

Jessica Dawn Sockwell – February 20, 2018

Jessica D. Sockwell, 33, of St. Marys passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Southeast Georgia Health System, Camden.

Jessica was born October 28, 1984 in Oklahoma City, OK.  She had been a resident of Camden County, GA, for the past 6 years.  Jessica grew up in Panama City, FL.  She enjoyed exploring and taking pictures with her children.  She was a beloved mother, daughter, sister, and granddaughter.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 3:00 pm at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys with Rev. Richard Fields officiating.

Survivors include her 2 children, Gabriella Sockwell and Scarlett Tran; step-father, Ricky A. Vannoy; brothers, Ricky A. Vannoy II, Dustin Vannoy, and Hank Harden; grandmother, Ruth Vannoy-Serino.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Tonya D. Vannoy.

Gladys Evelyn Gay – February 14, 2018

Gladys E. Gay, 91, of Woodbine, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at Folkston Park Care in Folkston, GA.
Born March 23, 1926 in Pelham, GA, she was the daughter of the late Noah E. and Zoe E. Robinson.  She was also preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, Leo Frank Gay, son, Rodger Gay, 5 sisters and 7 brothers.
Mrs. Gay had been a resident of Camden County for over 70 years and a member of Harrietts Bluff Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends and family on Monday, February 19, 2018 from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys.  A graveside service will follow at 3:00 pm at Oak Grove Cemetery with Benny Simpson and Terry Brown officiating.
Survivors include her son, Ronnie Gay of Woodbine; sister, Lou Morgan; 2 brothers, Joe Robinson and Zade Robinson; 4 grandchildren; John Gay, Tina Ingles, Ronnie Gay, and Kala Martin; 7 great grandchildren, Bobby Duncan, Briana Hunnicutt, Josh Ingles, Cory Ingles, Cody Gay, Bailey Gay, and Kadence Martin; 3 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family requests memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Gay be made to Georgia Hospice Care, 777 Gloucester Street, Brunswick, Georgia 31520.

Edward T. Leavy, Sr. – February 13, 2018

Edward T. Leavy, Sr., 82, of St. Marys passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at Southeast Georgia Health System, Camden.
Born August 13, 1935 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Edward and Margaret Leavy.  He was also preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Kathleen C. Leavy, and son, Edward T. Leavy, Jr.
Mr. Leavy had been a resident of Camden County for the past 5 years.  He was a 3rd degree Knight with the Knight’s of Columbus and member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church.  Mr. Leavy retired from Burroughs Corporation; was past president  of Palm Lakes Cooperative in West Palm Beach, FL; Lecturer at St. Marys Catholic Church for many years and past member of the Booster Club at Mater Dei High School in New Monmouth, NJ and member of the Elks in Middletown, NJ.
A Mass will be held Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 11:00 am at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in St. Marys with Father Mariusz presiding.  Burial to follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Marys.
The family will receive friends Friday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Allison Memorial Chapel with the rosary being recited at 4:30 pm for anyone wishing to attend.
Pallbearers: Sean Leavy, Curtis Nile, Daniel Shusko, Sr., Daniel Shusko, Jr., Joseph Shusko, and Matthew Shusko.
Survivors include his daughters, Pat Leavy, Eileen Rufo (Michael), Kathleen Nile (Curtis), Norah Shusko (Daniel, Sr.), and his son Sean Leavy; daughter in law, Patti Leavy; sister, Pat Bianco; brother John Leavy; 16 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
The family requests Memorial Contributions in memory of Edward T. Leavy, Sr., be made to the Knights of Columbus Ed Leavy Sr., scholarship fund.  Checks can be made payable to: K of C Council 11058 and mailed to Knights of Columbus at Our Lady of the Sea, 106 E. Dillingham St., St. Marys, GA 31558.

Donald L. Cleveland – February 12, 2018

Donald Lee Cleveland, 65, of Kingsland, passed away Monday, February 12, 2018 at UF Health Shands in Jacksonville, FL.
Memorial Services will be held Thursday, February 15, 2018 at the Restoration Church in Kingsland at 6:00 pm with Pastor Donald Belcher officiating.
