Jimmy Dorsey Rushing, 73, of St. Marys passed away Thursday, May 12, 2016 at his residence.
Jimmy was born May 2, 1943 in Savannah, GA and raised in Toombs County, GA. He started work with CSX Railroad in 1962 and retired a Master Welder. He and his daughters moved to Camden County in 1972, where he met Carol and her children. They were married in 1976 and raised their family there. Jimmy loved spending time with family and enjoyed hunting. He operated a small engine repair business, serving Camden County after her retired from the railroad. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. Jimmy was a beloved son, husband, brother, father, uncle, grandfather and friend.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 16, 2016 at 11:00 am at Allison Memorial Chapel with Pastor George Anderson officiating. Burial to follow at Brazell-Peeples Cemetery in Kingsland. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 15th, at the funeral home from 6 to 8 pm.

Survivors include his wife, Carol C. Rushing of St. Marys; daughters, Tonya Rushing of Jacksonville, FL, Norma Crooke (Bruce) of Fleming Island, FL, Michele Arnold of St. Marys, and Sherry Cobb (Herb) of Jacksonville, FL; brothers, Larry Rushing (Glenda) of Lyons and Harrison Rushing (Judy) of Vidalia; sister, Miriam Darden (Jackie) of Lyons; ten grandchildren, Lori, Reva, Emily, Tera, Amber, Alex, Tommy, Maggie, Louis, and Payton, fourteen great grandchildren, Dameon, Jaiden, Jordynn, Eric, Raven, Aaron, Zayne, Milo, Evie, Tommy, Wayne, Maci, James, and Abigail; step-mother, Ruby Rushing of Lyons. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh Dorsey Rushing and Virginia Blakewood Rushing Chafin, son, William “Billy” Scholl and grandson, David Michael Back.
