Charles R. Wienke, 70, of St. Marys, passed away Friday, May 27, 2016 at Community Hospice N.E. in Jacksonville, Florida.
Born November 28, 1945 in Kouts, IN, he was the son of the late Edward C. and Mildred Krug Wienke.
Mr. Wienke was a 1969 graduate of the United States Naval Academy, and a veteran of the United States Navy. Following his discharge from the Navy, he was employed with Bechtel Corporation as an electrical engineer in 1974. He worked for Bechtel for 33 years, spending time in Frederick, MD; Aiken, SC; Dresden, IL and Huntsville, AL before retiring in 2007 in Oakridge, TN. After retirement he and his wife Marge moved to St. Marys. He was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in St. Marys.
A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 11:00 am at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church with Fr. Mariusz Fuks presiding. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to services at 10:00 am. Graveside services for the family will follow at 2:30 pm at the Jacksonville National Cemetery with Military Honors.
Pallbearers: Chris Wienke, Kevin Wienke, Shawn Wienke, Davis Wienke, Ted Wienke, and Charlie Nelson.
Survivors include his wife, Marge Wienke of St. Marys; three sons, Christopher Wienke (Jen) of Fairfax, VA, Kevin Wienke (Ali) of Easley, SC, and Shawn Wienke (Jennifer) of Mount Pleasant, SC; brother, Ted Wienke of Aiken, SC; sister, Loretta Huber of Kouts, IN; five grandchildren, Davis Wienke, Nolan Wienke, Connor Wienke, Lauren Wienke, and Emma Wienke; four nieces, Lori Kuehl, Michele Huber, Jennifer Morlan and Jeanine Stovall and one nephew, Wally Huber.
