Robert “Tex” Shinkle – August 28, 2016

Robert “Tex” Shinkle, 67, of Kingsland passed away Sunday August 28, 2016 at Southeast Georgia Health System, Camden.
Born March 30, 1949 in Elwood, Indiana, he was the son of the late Harlan and Pearl Hudson Shinkle.  He was also preceded in death by three sisters and a brother.
“Tex” had been a resident of Camden County for the past 20 years.  He served in the United States Marine Corp for five years, then enlisted in the United States Air Force retiring in 1988 with a total of 20 years, serving his country honorably, and serving during Viet Nam. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart, and numerous medals and commendations.   Following his retirement he had been employed with Amelia Island Plantation.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 1, 2016 at Allison Memorial Chapel at 11:00 am with Pastor Greg Gardell officiating and with full Military Honors.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to services.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Shinkle of Kingsland; daughters, Melissa Shinkle of Milledgeville, and Priscilla Hansard (Michael) of Kingsland; six grandchildren, Felicia, Charlie, Madalyn, Hope, Casey, and Grace; several nieces and nephews.
The family request memorial contributions be made to the Marines’ Toys for Tots.
Allison Memorial Chapel and Funeral Home of St. Marys is in charge of arrangements.

    Lee Shinkle, Priscilla Hansard and I would like the thank all of our friends & family that took time out of their busy schedules to pay their respects to my father-in-law, Bob Shinkle. A special thanks is extended to Allison Memorial Chapel and Funeral Home, Paster Greg from Restoration Church of Camden County, Georgia (and our old neighbor), US Air Force Honor Guard, NGIS staff, VEMA, Bob’s Nurses, Briyonna & Jessica and GA Hospice for his care.
