Shirley Diana Thomasson of St. Marys answered her call to her heavenly home on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at her residence.
Miss Thomasson was born to Reedy and Eva Thomasson on December 5, 1950 in Andalusia Alabama. She was 66 years of age, and lived years beyond expectations.
She was a lifelong resident of Andalusia until moving to St. Mary’s Georgia in 2005. She now joins her daddy, mother, a brother James, a sister Linda, and a sister Doris in heaven.
She is survived by a special niece and caregiver Lynn Call (Larry), a nephew Reggie Thomasson (Bobbie), a niece Sandra Blaich (Johnie), a niece Candy McClendon (Joe), a nephew Sammy Huggins (Beth), and a nephew Britt Huggins (Shannon) as well as several great nieces and nephews and great, great nieces and nephews along with a host of church family and friends.
Shirley was special indeed. She never met a stranger and considered everyone to be her family. She loved everyone and nothing brought her more pleasure than having pictures of her loved ones to brag about. She was a competitive game player especially cards. She got hours of pleasure putting a name on her list of blankets to crochet for anyone who had a birthday, anniversary, wedding, or new baby. Her greatest gift to anyone was that of giving of herself. She was passionate about helping others. She truly had a heart of a servant. If we all would love as hard as Shirley loved, smiled as big as she did, and served others as her heart did, what a better world we would live in.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 12 noon at Cedar Grove Church of Christ in Andalusia, AL with visitation one hour prior to services. Burial to follow at the churchyard cemetery.
Allison Memorial Chapel and Funeral Home of St. Marys is in charge of arrangements.
