Tom Walker Barnett, Jr, 73, of Woodbine passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Oak View Rehabilitation Center in Orange Park, FL.
Born July 14, 1943 in Griffin, GA, he was the son of the late Tom Walker Barnett, Jr., and the late Emily Jones Walker. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Bob Barnett.
Mr. Barnett attended Texas A&M and the University of Texas in El Paso. He was a Pilot in the United State Army serving his country honorably during Vietnam. He received the Army Aviator Badge; Vietnam Service Medal; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/Devise; 2 O/S Bars; Air Medal with 12 Oak Leaf Clusters and numerous other medals. He had been employed with the United States Customs Service and the International Bridges in El Paso. Coming to Camden County in 1985 he was employed with the St. Marys Police Department until his retirement in 2004.
Inurnment with Military Honors will be held later at the National Cemetery in El Paso, TX.
Survivors include his wife, Kaye Barnett of Woodbine; daughter and son in law, Liz and George Ovalle of El Paso, TX; two grandchildren, Sean and Michelle.
The family requests memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Barnett be made to the Camden Humane Society.
