Evelyn B. Guderian, 81, of St. Marys, GA, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2014 at the Senior Care Center in St. Marys, GA.
Born February 4, 1933, in Newark, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Carmine and Mary Longhi Bucci. Also preceding her in death were two brothers, Lawrence Bucci and Dominick Bucci, and a sister, Eleanor Pickering.
Mrs. Guderian worked from 1953 to 1960 for Mutual Benefit Life Insurance Company. She was active for many years in counseling, training and advocacy for northern Delaware’s disabled citizens, elderly, and at-risk youth. She was a co-chairperson of the Wilmington Area Planning Council, a counselor for the Delaware Association for the Blind, the Easter Seals Society, the Delaware Division for the Visually Impaired and Delaware Criminal Justice Council, and the New Castle County secretary for the National Federation of the Blind.
Coming from Claymont, Delaware, Mrs. Guderian had been a resident of Camden County for the past 6 years. She was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in St. Marys, GA.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, July 25, 2014 at 11:00 am, at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys, GA, with Fr. Mariusz Fuks officiating.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph Guderian of St. Marys; five children, Gregory Guderian (Douglas) of Belleville, NJ, Carla Carrero (Robert) of Kingsland, GA, Martin Guderian (Jennifer) of Wilmington, NC, Roger Guderian of Claymont, DE, and Amy Guderian of Smyrna, GA; sister, Lucille Biese of Lancaster, PA; three grandchildren, Bryan Carrero, Brooke Guderian, and Summer Guderian; several nieces and nephews.
