John E. Cox, 80, of Woodbine, passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Southeast Georgia Health Systems in Brunswick.
Born March 20, 1937 in Waverly, GA, he was the son of the late Thomas W. and Hattie M. Cox. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia J. Cox, three brothers and two sisters.
Mr. Cox was a lifelong resident of Camden County, and retired from Gilman Paper Company with 43 years of service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Woodbine. He loved traveling, gardening, and especially riding his golf cart downtown visiting everyone. His grandchildren were his life.
Survivors include his three children, Debbie Daniels (Terry) of Eastman, Pamela Cox Hagwood (Mickey) of Jacksonville, FL, and Shannon Nason (Robert) of Woodbine; brother, Alton Cox of Woodbine; two grandchildren, John David Nason and Julia Nason, several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church in Woodbine with Pastor Bill Alderman officiating. Visitation with the family will follow after the services.
The family requests memorial contributions in memory of Mr. John Cox be made to the First Baptist Church of Woodbine building fund, P.O. Box 296, Woodbine, GA 31569.
