Jason Farris Pierce, known to most as “Pockets or Pete” 86, of St. Marys, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Southeast Georgia Health System in Camden County.
Born April 16, 1931 in Baxley, Georgia, he was the son of the late Idus and Bertha Pierce. He was also preceded in death by his son, Gary Lee Pierce, and his grandson, Mitchell Garrett Pierce.
Pete had been a resident of Camden County for the past 70 years and was retired from Gilman Paper Company with 43 years of service. He was a well known entrepreneur, and loved to work. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, and member of the First Baptist Church of St. Marys. Pockets was often spotted driving through downtown Kingsland and St. Mary’s in his red Cadillac or parked at Steffens enjoying his daily milkshake.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 7, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church in St. Marys with Pastor Steve Kegley officiating. Burial to follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Marys.
The family will receive friends at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys on Wednesday evening from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Honorary: Edsel Pierce, Robert Pierce and Keith Pierce as well as Workers of #1, #2, and #3 paper machines from Gilman Paper Company.
Survivors include his children, Rodney Pierce (Marshia) of Vidalia. Joannie Middleton (Tommy) of White Oak, Pam Bruss (Bob) of Apex, NC, Cindy Parr (Jack) of St. Marys, and Sherri Hickox (Dennis) of Kingsland; sister, Ruthelle Werts of Jacksonville, FL; 16 grandchildren, Royce Pierce, Blake Pierce, Jessica Hassell, David Pierce, Tom Middleton, CaraLisa Middleton, Gavin Bruss, Garrett Bruss, Stacey Porch, Jack Parr, Rob Barker, Lauren Barker, Tucker Hickox, Brooke Hickox, Jason Pierce and Heather Pierce; 18 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
