Eugene Hayes Watson – May 21, 2018

Eugene Hayes Watson, 81, of Woodbine, passed away Monday, May 21, 2018 at his residence with his family by his side.
Born October 15, 1936 in Woodbine, GA, he was the son of the late Douglas Hayes Watson and LaVerne Caldwell Watson.  He was also preceded in death by his son, Stephen Watson.
Mr. Watson was a lifelong resident of Camden County and a graduate of Camden County High School.  He was a member of the first football team, playing offence and defense, at Camden High.  Following graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country honorably during the Korean Conflict. He had been employed with White Oak Plantation, retiring with 30 years of service, and continued his passion as a Farrier through all those years.  Mr. Watson was a life member of the Tiger Island Hunting Club and enjoyed fishing, squirrel hunting, working his vegetable garden and cutting firewood.  He was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather.  He was of the Methodist faith.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 25, 2018, at 11:00 am, at Southeast Community Church in Kingsland with Pastor Steve Curtis presiding.  The family will receive friends at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys, Thursday, May 24th from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
The family requests memorial contributions in memory of Eugene Hayes Watson be made to Hospice of the Golden Isles, 1692 Glynco Parkway, Brunswick, GA 31525.
Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Tish Watson of Woodbine; children, Mark Hayes Watson of Woodbine, Kimberly Ann Watson (Brian) of Kingsland, and Jennifer Lynn Hamilton of Bluffton, SC; sisters, Linda Blake (Dockey) of Yulee, FL, and Cheryl O’Quinn (Danny) of Brunswick; grandchildren, Madison Hayes Riggins, Hanna Jade Watson, Gene Caldwell Hamilton and Lucas Hayes Hamilton; several nieces and nephews.
Allison Memorial Chapel and Funeral Home of St. Marys is in charge of arrangements.
