David A. Hogan, 78, of St. Marys passed away Friday, August 3, 2018 at the Senior Care Center in St. Marys.
Born January 21, 1940 in Norfolk, VA, he was the son of the late James and Lesta Lloyd Hogan. He was also preceded in death by his two brothers, James Hogan, Jr., and Robert L. Hogan.
Mr. Hogan was 20 years retired from the United States Coast Guard, serving his country honorably during Vietnam. Following his retirement, he was an independent commercial truck driver for 20 years, and Commercial Driver Instructor for Community College in Charleston, SC. He then relocated to Camden County and worked at Kingsbay Sub Base as a service contractor in the transportation department.
Mr. Hogan was always a faithful visitor at the Woodbine Opry. He was a life member of the VFW Post 8385 in Kingsland, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was of the Baptist faith.
A Celebration of Mr. Hogan’s Life will be held Monday, August 6, 2018 at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys at 5:00 pm with United States Coast Guard Honors. Visitation will follow the service until 7:00 pm.
Survivors include his loving wife of 42 years, Harriet Hogan of St. Marys; daughter, Teresa H. Miller (Glenn) of Chesapeake, VA; son, Robert Hogan (Khythrene) of Kingsland; step-son, Ray Thrower (George Williams) of Fort Lauderdale, FL; sister, Rose Hackworth and twin brother, Paul Hogan, both of Chesapeake, VA; four grandchildren, Orion Hogan, Samantha May, Adam Bevins, and Victoria Hogan; two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Allison Memorial Chapel and Funeral Home of St. Marys is in charge of arrangements.
