Harlyn C. Parker, 80, of Kingsland, passed away Thursday, August 23, 2018 at his residence.
Born August 27, 1937 in Lafayette, Georgia, he was the son of the late Charlie and Lillie White Parker. in addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by three sisters and a brother.
Mr. Parker had been a resident of Camden County since 1979 and enjoyed attending Browntown Baptist Church. He was retired from the United States Navy with 30 years of service, and served his country honorably during the Vietnam Era. Following his retirement he was employed at Kingsbay Naval Base with Civil service for 5 years. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, boating and wood crafting.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 27, 2018 at Allison Memorial Chapel at 11:00 am with Pastor Mark A. Patterson officiating. The family received friends at the funeral home one hour prior to services. Burial followed at 2:30 pm at the Jacksonville National Cemetery with full Military Honors.
Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Odean “Merle” Parker of Kingsland; three children, Diane Patterson (Mark) of Kingsland, Debbie Carver, and Ron Parker (Chantelle) all of Jacksonville, FL; two sisters, Ann McLemore of Myrtle Beach, SC and Sue Kramer (John) of Bolivar, TN, eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family requests Memorial Contributions in memory of Mr. Harlyn C. Parker be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
