Malcolm Floyd Scruggs, 91, of Harriett’s Bluff, Georgia, passed away on 13 September 2018.
Malcolm was born in Blackshear, Georgia on 18 July 1927 to Truman Edward Scruggs and Rosa Bowen Scruggs and graduated from Waycross High School.
Malcolm served his country in the United States Army for 20 years and retired at the rank of Major in 1965. Malcolm was in the Airborne Infantry, 508th Parachute Infantry, 82nd Airborne, and 11th Airborne and served in Germany and in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. During his service he received the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, United Nations Service Medal and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Vietnam).
After his military retirement, Malcolm worked for the United States Postal Service in Waycross Georgia for 21 years.
Malcolm was preceded in death by his mother and father, sister Jackie Henderson and brother Marion Scruggs.
Malcolm is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Mary LeFane Scruggs; two daughters, Julie Locker of Alexandria, Virginia and LeFane Shaw of Seattle, Washington; two sons, Malcolm Scruggs, Jr., Cleveland, Georgia and Stephen Scruggs and wife Sylvia Thomas of Cleveland, Georgia; sister, Patricia Hendricks of Jacksonville, FL; Malcolm is survived by several nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren and other family and friends.
Visitation will be held at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Mary’s, Georgia on Wednesday, September 19, 2018, from 5-7 pm.
Funeral services with full Military Honors will be held at Jacksonville National Cemetery on September 20, 2018, at 10:30 am, with Pastor Adam Henderson officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the Army Emergency Relief Fund.
