Richard Gene Riggle, Jr., 55, of St. Marys died Tuesday morning (February 11, 2020) at his residence after a sudden illness. Mr. Riggle was born in West Palm Beach, Florida to the late Richard Gene Riggle, Sr. and Patricia Gendreau Riggle and had made St. Marys his home for the past 30 years. He served his country faithfully for 21 years in the United States Navy, after retirement he started a life in law enforcement, working for the Camden County Sheriff Office, St. Marys Police Department, and D.O.D. Police on Kingsbay Naval Submarine Base. He loved hunting, fishing, woodworking, and was a true craftsman, he enjoyed the Native American traditions and lore along with amateur photography and was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Riggle is survived by two children, Kristin Strickland husband Justin of St. Marys, Ryan Riggle wife Amanda of Kingsland; three grandchildren, Faith Strickland, Emma Strickland, and Grant Riggle; his mother, Patricia Gendreau Riggle of St. Marys; a brother, Robert Riggle of Vero Beach, Florida; niece, Ileana Wolfort husband Josh of Jacksonville, Florida; former spouse, Jan Riggle of St. Marys; numerous other family members.
A memorial service will be held Friday (February 14, 2020) at 11:00am at Allison Memorial Chapel. The family will be receiving friends beginning at 10:00am at the funeral home. A private entombment will take place at Jacksonville National Cemetery on Friday (February 21, 2020) at 2:30pm.
