Christopher Willett Field, Sr. ,67, died Wednesday morning March 18, 2020 at his residence of an extended illness. He was born on July 29, 1952 in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Sedjwick and Betty Lou (Baize) Field. He grew up in suburban Detroit and graduated from Gross Pointe High School. After graduation, he joined the United States Navy and was stationed at Mayport Naval Base in Jacksonville, Florida. After he completed his naval service, he returned to Michigan were he raised his family on a farm first owned by his great-grandparents.
In Michigan, he worked at Tower Automotive and also managed his own small used car sales business. He returned to the Jacksonville area in 1992 and settled in Kingsland where he lived until the time of his death.
He is most remembered for he theatrical roles at St Mary’s Theatre by the Traxx, especially the Hobo role on the train rides. He was very passionate about his family heritage. He loved classic cars and he was a talented drummer. He loved all his family unconditionally.
Mr. Field is survived by his wife, Krystal Field of Kingsland; children, Penny Dora, Carey Hearn, Kelly Parrish, Wesley Field, Jennifer Field Waters, Christopher W. Field, Jr., Sarah Field Brausch, Ronnie Crews, Rachel Crews, Rebekah Rittenhouse and Jessica Crews. He had 31 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and numerous other family members.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a son, Daniel Clay Field and a brother, Peter Field.
A graveside service will be held Monday (March 23, 2020) at 11:00am at Oak Grove Cemetery. The Rev. George Wester will be officiating.
