Delores J. Nugent, 74, of Kingsland, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2015 at her residence.
Born October 4, 1940 in Memphis, TN, she was the daughter of the late Earl S. and Minnie Brockway Perry. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Hollis Nugent, her first husband, James Edward Mixson, Sr., and brother, Earl Quinton Perry. Dee had been employed with the Pine Ridge Fire Department in Summerville, SC for many years, and enjoyed traveling, dancing, crafts, and skydiving. In her retirement years, she and her husband would travel and stay at camp grounds, where she was well known as the “Hostess”. She was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 1 pm at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys, with the Eastern Star and Pastor Daniel Branistareanu officiating. An inurnment will be held at a later date.
Survivors include three daughters, Delores Jean Engledow (Chris) of Villa Rica, GA, Karen Denise Sims of Lexington, TX, and Deborah Ann Mackey (Greg) of Kingsland; son, James Edward Mixson, Jr., of Summerville, SC; four sisters, Brenda Harris of Memphis, TN, Jeanne Scott of Bartlett, TN, Maxine Mitchell of Boerne, TX, and Lynn Duett of Memphis, TN; 5 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
