John Ed Bruce, 93, of Kingsland, passed away Thursday, September 24, 2015 at Marshview Nursing Home in Savannah.
Born July 8, 1922 in Kingsland, GA, he was the son of the late Charles and Hattie Liles Bruce. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Annie Elizabeth Mills Bruce, and nine brothers, Jack, Aldine, Robert, Liles, Monroe, Woodrow, Lester, Joe, and Houston.
A lifelong resident of Camden County, Mr. Bruce was retired from Gilman Paper Company with 30 years of service. He was a member of Kingsland First Baptist Church, serving as Church Secretary for over 30 years, and was also the church planner of Crooked River Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp serving his country honorably during WWII.
Funeral services will be held Monday, September 28, 2015 at 10:00 am, at the Kingsland First Baptist Church Chapel, with burial to follow at Homeward Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm on Sunday, September 27th, at Allison Memorial Chapel in St. Marys.
Survivors include two sons and daughters in law, Wayne and Ellen Bruce of Savannah, GA, and Ronald and Pamela Bruce of Dothan, AL; daughter, Sandra Bruce of Sandersville, GA; six grandchildren, Kristi, Stephen, Rachel, Edward, Ashley, and Lindsay; eight great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
