Pastor Eugene Ottis Crews, 73, of Harriett’s Bluff, Woodbine, passed away

Brunswick.
Born in Telmore, Georgia on October 29th, 1941, he was the son of the late
AJ Crews and Dora Courson Crews. Throughout his life, he went from being a
picker, grinner, and sinner, opening for Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, and
Lynard Skynyrd to picker, grinner, and winner as a Christian singer in Gene
Crews and the Believers and the Tributes. When older, he and his wife
attended Calvary Bible Institute where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree
in Biblical Studies. He went on to pastor Harvest Christian Fellowship,
travel as a missionary to Honduras, as well as open a food bank that fed
hundreds of people. He loved music and offered to teach others any
instrument they desired to play.
He used to work at United Insurance Company of America for 24 years as an

I would like to extend my wish of comfort and peace for Eugene and his family. I remember Eugene visiting me when living in Georgia. His charisma and enthusiasm for music was very exciting to me; a young piano student.

Through the years, I have drawn from this charisma and continued my love for music and songwriting. So much so, I wrote a song I call ‘In The Light’. I dedicate these lyrics to my cousin Eugene Crews. I also hope it’s message brings comfort to Jeanette and his family.

IT’S HARD TO BELIEVE THE PAIN IS REAL
ALL MY DREAMS HAVE LEFT AGAIN
BUT I KNOW TOMORROW WILL BE BETTER, YOU SEE
CRYSTAL LIGHT IS SHINING BRIGHT FOR YOU AND ME

ON THE OTHER SIDE (OF LIFE)
THE TIME IS ALWAYS RIGHT (I WILL BE ALRIGHT)
NO MORE PAIN, NO MORE TEARS NO SADNESS OR FEAR (SO PLEASE OH PLEASE DON’T CRY)
    (BECAUSE I’M IN THE LIGHT)
    FLY AWAY NOW

YOU CAN’T BUY HEAVEN NO AND YOU CAN’T SELL HELL
BUT ONE THING’S FOR CERTAIN THAT I KNOW ALL TOO WELL
THE DAY IS COMING NOW OUR FINAL REPRIEVE
WE ALL AWAIT THE DAY WHEN WE NO LONGER GRIEVE YEA

    (ON THE OTHER SIDE) . . .
